METRO C - COMPENSATION GROUTING TO THE COLOSSEUM STATION OF THE ROME METRO, LINE B

28 May 2019

The project for the construction of the T3 section of the new Rome Metro, Line C, requires the use of the Compensation Grouting technology. Said technology mitigates and compensates for the subsidence basin induced by the passage of the 2 TBM rigs under the footprint of the existing Colosseum station of the Rome Metro, Line B, during the excavation and construction of the Line tunnels.
Currently, the drilling and installation phase of No. 47 TAM (Manchettes tubes) for a total of approx. 2,000 m of drilling and approx. 3,400 valves installed on a surface of ca. 1,900 square meters has been completed.
Drilling works were carried out with the TDDT/HDD technology, which allows the control of the drilling progress and its possible correction during work. The pre-treatment of the volume of soil undergoing the compensation grouting intervention is nearing completion. The conditioning phase will follow and, finally, there will be the Compensation Grouting phase on arrival and during the passage of the two TBM rigs.
