Trevi Australia

Bringing Expertise in Special Foundations and Ground Consolidation

Trevi Australia is a specialized company in the field of special foundations and soil consolidation work. Founded in Mulgrave (Sydney) in 2012, the company aims to bring the extensive knowledge and experience of the Trevi Group to the Australian market, led by a skilled local team.

Expansion and Strategy

The Australian operations were initiated as part of the Trevi Group’s international expansion strategy. This strategy leverages the Group’s vital position in the Asia-Pacific region and aligns with the Australian Government’s infrastructure investment plans.

Key Projects and Milestones

  • 2016: Forrestfield Airport Link (FAL) Project
Trevi Australia secured its first major contract in September 2016 for the Forrestfield Airport Link project. This involved the installation of a soil consolidation block at the cross-passage tunnels to ensure safe excavation. Eight cross-passages were consolidated using Jet Grouting, and four through Artificial Ground Freezing. The latter was executed directly within the tunnels underneath the operational International Airport taxiway. This initial project was valued at AUD 30 million.

  • 2021: North East Link Project
In 2021, Trevi Australia was awarded the contract for the AUD 10 billion North East Link project. The scope includes trench excavation and the installation of diaphragm walls, measuring 1.2 meters wide and up to 40 meters deep, for constructing the North East Link at Lower Plenty Road in Melbourne. Soilmec hydromills are being utilized for the diaphragm wall construction. The NEL project is ongoing and expected to continue until mid-2025.

Continuous Pursuit of Innovation

Trevi Australia actively seeks new challenges to support projects requiring geotechnical solutions and innovations. As part of the Trevi Group, a global leader in geotechnical engineering and drilling with over 30 subsidiaries and a presence in 80 countries, Trevi Australia specializes in underground engineering services using innovative, reliable, and durable solutions.

Business Model and Specializations

The unique business model of Trevi Group consists of two divisions:

  • Trevi SpA: carries out special foundations and soil consolidation works for large infrastructure projects (subways, dams, ports and docks, bridges, railway and highway lines, industrial and civil buildings), secures polluted sites
  • Soilmec: which designs, manufactures and markets machinery, systems and services for underground engineering.

Internationalization, integration and the continuous exchange between its two divisions are among the reasons for the success of the Group. Together, the divisions cover all the geotechnical applications and study the appropriate solution for challenging soil improvement and special foundation. This includes soil consolidation works for large infrastructure projects, including subways, dams, ports and docks, bridges, railway, and highway lines, and industrial and civil buildings. We also deliver excellent training in this sector.

Trevi Australia remains dedicated to maintaining its reputation for quality and excellence, continually striving to support the infrastructure needs of the Australian market with cutting-edge geotechnical solutions.
